Nigeria Energy is excited to announce the launch of The Energy-X Contest, a pivotal initiative aimed at fostering innovation and raising awareness in the clean energy sector. This inaugural Idea Contest seeks to identify and empower emerging leaders passionate about driving the energy transition in Nigeria. By nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship among university students and young graduates, it aims to catalyze the development of groundbreaking ideas and ventures in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Applicants must be young professionals residing in Nigeria, aged between 18 and 32 years old
Submissions are open to both individuals and teams
Team compositions are encouraged to be interdisciplinary, fostering collaboration and innovation and the team lead within the age limit
Each applicant or team must have a faculty member, industry leader, or mentor to serve as referee providing guidance throughout the contest
Gender equity and balance are strongly encouraged
The idea should be in the pre-seed/early stage category
Submissions must include a Pitch Deck outlining the proposed idea, problem statement, innovation potential, expected impact, and commercial viability
Teams may consist of members with diverse backgrounds and expertise, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration
Each team must have a designated mentor from academia or industry to provide guidance and support throughout the contest
Uniqueness and creativity of the proposed idea
Relevance to the energy sector and alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 7
Feasibility and potential for implementation
Commercial viability and scalability.
The top 3 shortlisted entries will have the opportunity to present their projects at the Technical Seminar at Nigeria Energy in October 2024
Three finalists will be selected during the conference, receiving substantial support to further develop their ideas and ventures
The winner will be offered the global exposure to showcase their idea at the Middle East Energy 2025 in Dubai (the trip will be covered by Informa Markets), leading to valuable partnerships, media attention and access to potential investors. Additionally, the winner will be awarded a grant prize at Nigeria Energy 2024
The runners-up will be recognized with prizes at Nigeria Energy 2024
The top 15 selected entries will go through a virtual business incubation program to develop their ideas to profitable ventures. On the completion of the program, the shortlisted 15 entries will be offered a complimentary delegate pass worth $500 to the Nigeria Energy Leadership Summit, an opportunity to network with C-level executives from the energy value chain
Participants will gain exposure to industry professionals, potential investors, and mentors within the energy sector
